The new European Migration Network Asylum and Migration Overview (AMO) 2024 provides a comprehensive overview of migration and asylum trends and developments at EU and national level across EMN Member and Observer Countries in 2024, including EU-level statistics from Eurostat. For the first time, this edition will be complemented by an interactive web summary to enhance accessibility and understanding for a wide audience, including policymakers and civil society.
The European Migration Network Asylum and Migration Overview (AMO) has updated its name for the 2024 edition, to distinguish it from the European Annual Asylum and Migration Report (EAAMR), to be issued by the European Commission under Regulation (EU) 2024/1351 (AMMR) by 15 October 2025. The EMN AMO does not include implementation reporting related to the Pact on Migration and Asylum but retains the structure and content of previous annual reports from the European Migration Network. The AMO 2024 provides an overview of legal and policy developments, covering aspects of migration and asylum across 12 thematic chapters – including legal migration, international protection, Schengen, integration, irregular migration and return and readmission – for the period January to December 2024.
The launch event will provide an overview of key developments highlighted in the report, present key statistical trends from Eurostat, and highlight specific national perspectives. It also aims to introduce a new interactive web summary, which will be published online alongside the full publication. This web content summarises the main findings and crosscutting themes in a concise, clear and user-friendly manner.
The event will be hosted online through Webex. We welcome participants from policymakers in EMN Member and Observer Countries, EU institutions, EU agencies, experts, practitioners, academics, civil society, NGOs, and the general public.
